HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 c45W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will include the supply of special sweets for diabetic children in the system for the provision of welfare foods.

Dr. Owen

Diabetic children under the age of five benefit equally with other young children from the milk and vitamin drops available to that age group under the Welfare Food Service. The Welfare Food Service is not, however, geared to deliver special supplies to particular groups, and I am in any case advised that there is no medical need for the supply of sweets to these children.
