asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT those local authorities whose tenants have not yet received notification from the rent scrutiny board of their fair rent under the Housing Finance Act 1972: and whether he has yet introduced a measure to stop the work of the rent scrutiny board.

In answer to the first part of the Question, of the former local authorities which submitted their provisional assessment of fair rents to the rent scrutiny boards, those listed below have not received a report from their board. In answer to the second part, I am now consulting the local authority associations about the legislative provisions to be made for the first stage in the repeal of the Housing Finance Act, which includes provision for halting the work of the rent scrutiny boards.
