HC Deb 26 June 1974 vol 875 c474W
Sir D. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is taking action designed to allow palm oil to be imported free of duty into the EEC, as it has been in the past into the United Kingdom.

Mr. Peart

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to my statement to the Council of Ministers (Agriculture) on 18th June on our ideas and proposals for the improvement of the common agricultural policy and certain related matters. In that statement I made the point that the import arrangements for palm oil should be improved. It will be one of my objectives in the forthcoming negotiations to achieve a satisfactory improvement.
