asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much corporation tax was paid to the Exchequer by the building societies for the last year measured from the latest convenient date.

Dr. Gilbert

The amount of corporation tax payable by building societies for accounting periods ending in the year to 31st March 1974 is estimated at£8 million.
