§ Mr. Sainsbury
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give consideration to the need for further control on the use of power boats within 500 metres of low water mark in the interests of safety; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Clinton Davis
I have been asked to reply.
Powers already exist under which seaside local authorities can make byelaws for this purpose. The adequacy of the control thus exercised is kept under constant review within my Department and will be further considered in the working party the setting up of which was announced on 7th May by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department and on which my Department will be represented.—[Vol. 873, c. 127.]
