HC Deb 25 June 1974 vol 875 c444s W
Sir Raymond Gower

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will take steps to expedite work to implement plans for the creation of a district general hospital incorporating Sully Hospital, Llandough Hospital and Barry Community Hospital to include provision for out-patients at Llandough Hospital.

Mr. John Morris

The area health authority has already taken steps towards the unified administration of Llandough and Sully Hospitals as complementary units in a long-term development of major hospital services to the west of Cardiff. At Llandough the building of an out-patient department and a 30-place geriatric day unit together with improvements to X-ray and pathology facilities are now in progress. It is hoped to start improvements to the pharmacy department and a new 60-bed geriatric unit towards the end of this financial year. Barry Community Hospital should have a complementary rolô.
