HC Deb 25 June 1974 vol 875 cc444b-c W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will take steps to prevent the endangering of lives and the destruction of property caused by continual flooding at the Sunk Road, Dunloy, Co. Antrim.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I understand that there is a long-standing problem of land drainage in this area but am not aware of any further deterioration in the position which would endanger life or property. The Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, subject to the agreement of all landowners concerned, is planning to carry out a major drainage improvement scheme on the Upper Main river which would permit proper drainage.
