HC Deb 25 June 1974 vol 875 cc444t-u W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many job-seeking agencies there are in Scotland; how many of these receive Government financial assistance; and how many new jobs have been brought to Scotland during the past four years for which figures are available as a result of their efforts.

Mr. William Ross

Details of the Scottish agencies wholly or partly supported by public funds were given in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for South Ayrshire (Mr. Sillars) on 16th May—[Vol. 873, c.514.] In addition, many local authorities either individually or in groupings undertake industrial promotion. The creation of new jobs is often the outcome of many factors and it is not practicable with precision to attribute a total to the efforts of the agencies alone.
