HC Deb 25 June 1974 vol 875 cc403-4W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what were Great Britain's total sales of arms abroad and the income from training military personnel from overseas countries for each year since the Arms Export Sales Department was created; and what were the totals for each of the three years before the department was established.

Mr. Mason

It is assumed that the reference to the Arms Export Sales Department is intended to be to the Defence Sales Organisation which was set up in 1966. The figures of estimated exports from 1966–67 to date and the three years preceding 1966 are as follows:

£ million
1963–64 118
1964–65 121
1965–66 128
1966–67 152
1967–68 165
1968–69 214
1969–70 227
1970–71 235
1971–72 242
1972–73 257
1973–74 (provisional) 400

Information on the income from training military personnel from overseas coun tries is not available without disproportionate effort
