HC Deb 24 June 1974 vol 875 cc329-30W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much beef is at present in cold storage in the United Kingdom, which has been bought under the European Economic Community's intervention schemes.

Mr. Buchan

The quantity of beef bought by the United Kingdom intervention agency and held in cold stores is 176 tons. I understand that some beef bought by intervention agencies in other member States has been put into store in this country. This is a commercial matter between the cold store operator and the intervention agency concerned, and no official figures of the quantities involved are available.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what arrangements he has made to permit beef, bought within the European Economic Community's intervention buying schemes, to be brought to cold stores in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Buchan

We have made no such arrangements.
