HC Deb 21 June 1974 vol 875 c287W
Mr. Alan Lee Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultation has taken place with associable Commonwealth countries concerning renegotiation of the terms of entry into the EEC.

Mr. Hattersley

The Commonwealth countries eligible for association with the EEC under Protocol 22 of the Treaty of Accession are at present engaged in negotiations with the Community. We are working actively for an early and successful conclusion of those negotiations. Her Majesty's Government are naturally keeping in close touch with the Commonwealth countries concerned, in the light of our renegotiation objectives as set out in Luxembourg on 1st April and 4th June.
