Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many psychiatric patients for 1,000 population in the London borough of Islington were treated in out-patients' clinics in the years 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.

Information is not available in the form requested. Data on the number of attendances for out-patient treatment at individual hospitals is published annually in the Department of Health and Social Security Statistical and Research Report Series. The latest relevant report in the series is No. 5 containing statistics for 1971.

Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will seek to provide special financial help to the London borough of Islington in providing further community care facilities for the mental patients.

No powers exist under the Local Government Act 1974 to direct special financial help for such a purpose to any individual local authority.
