HC Deb 20 June 1974 vol 875 c250W
Mr. Burden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many doctors practising in Great Britain received their training abroad; and what percentage this is of the total number of doctors employed in the National Health Service.

Dr. Owen

Figures distinguishing doctors trained abroad are not available. In September 1973 there were about 14,300 overseas-born doctors practising in the National Health Service in Great Britain, 25 per cent. of the total.
