Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the total value of payments made to date in cheese subsidy, identifying separately the figure for British cheeses and that for imported cheeses.

By 19th June £287,801 had been paid on cheese made in the United Kingdom and £319,400 86p on imported cheeses.

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many more manufacturers and importers have been identified as eligible for cheese subsidy since 5th June.

Between 5th June and 19th June a further seven manufacturers and 19 importers had been identified as eligible to claim the subsidy.

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether there has been any increase in the number of manufacturers of White Stilton cheese registered as claimants for subsidy since 5th June; and how much money has so far been paid.

By 19th June a further three manufacturers had been registered as claimants for subsidy on white Stilton. Records of the amount of subsidy paid on individual cheeses are not being maintained.
