HC Deb 20 June 1974 vol 875 cc218-9W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many charities have had their registration withdrawn in each of the last 10 years;

(2) how many new charities applied for registration with the Charity Commissioners in each of the last 10 years; and how many were successful in their application in each year;

(3) what was the total number of charities registered with the Charity Commission at the end of each of the last 10 years; and how many charities had their accounts examined by the commissioners in each year in that period;

(4) how many individual complaints about particular charities were received by the Charity Commissioners in each of the last 10 years.

Dr. Summerskill

The Home Office does not keep this information, as my right hon. Friend has no responsibility for the day-to-day work of the commission. I suggest that my hon. Friend should approach the commissioners direct.
