HC Deb 19 June 1974 vol 875 cc191-2W
Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he will be able to reply to the letter from the hon. Member for Bridgwater on the need for improving traffic markings on the A38 adjacent to the Shearston Lane turning.

Mr. Carmichael

The county council and the police are being consulted about possible changes at this junction. I shall write to the hon. Member giving our conclusions as soon as possible.

Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the opening of the M5 Dunhill-Huntworth section and the consequent reduction of traffic on the A38 through Bridgwater, he will now accede to the request of Sedgemoor District Council and allow the right turn from Monmouth Street into Eastover.

Mr. Carmichael

A decision will be made later this year when traffic counts being made during the summer have been analysed.
