Mr. Burden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average number of patients allocated to doctors in Gillingham; and how this compares with the average in the Medway Towns and also in Kent as a whole.

Dr. Owen

The average number of patients per doctor in Gillingham town at 1st January 1974 was 2,661. The corresponding figures at that date for the Medway towns and for the whole of Kent were 2,715 and 2,461 respectively.

Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average patient list for general practitioners in Coventry; and how this compares with the national average.

Dr. Owen

At 1st April 1974 there were 2,532 patients per general practitioner in Coventry. The latest available estimate for the national average—at 1st October 1973—is 2,398 patients per general practitioner.
