§ 61. Mr. Loveridge
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps designed substantially to increase the volunteer forces industry, the TAVR, police, civil defence, fire and ambulance services so that adequate numbers are trained and available to meet any further extensions of terrorism in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Roy Jenkins
Much as I value the work of the volunteer forces, I believe that measures to counter terrorist activities must remain primarily in the hands of the regular emergency services.
§ Mr. Trotter
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation providing for the restoration of capital punishment in the case of persons convicted of murder or attempted murder in Great Britain committed while acting as a member of the IRA or other terrorist organisation.
