§ Mr. Hardyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet reached a decision on the representations which have been made to him about the proposed increases in stamp duty in relation to overseas investment.
§ Mr. HealeyI have decided that shares or securities purchased for the beneficial ownership of any person who is resident outside the scheduled territories should be relieved from the increase in stamp duty I proposed in my Budget Speech. I hope that it will be possible to introduce this relief with effect from 1st August next.
