HC Deb 10 June 1974 vol 874 c400W
Mr. Adam Butler

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, because exports of shoes and other goods to West Africa are restricted by the present level of tariffs on United Kingdom goods, the Government will consider early action to sign the Yaounde Convention.

Mr. Deakins:

Negotiations are in progress for a new convention of association to replace the Yaounde Convention, which expires in January 1975. There is no provision under the Treaty of Accession for the new member States to become parties to the Yaounde Convention in the meantime.
