asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will review the use of PVC in food packaging in the light of further knowledge becoming available of the carcinogenic hazards of vinyl chloride monomer.

The use of PVC in food packaging is being kept under close review here and in other countries, particularly the United States of America. The advice of the Government's expert advisory committees remains that given in reply to my hon. Friend's Question on 4th April.
