§ Mr. Kevin McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the number of internees that have been released in the period 9th to 16th July; how many are male; how many female; for what length of period they had been detained; whether they were released by executive order of the Secretary of State or by the commissioners; and how many interim custody orders he signed in the same period of time.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesDuring the period from 9th to 16th July 1974, inclusive, 18506W people, one of whom was a woman, were released from detention. I released eight; two were released on first hearing by a commissioner and the remaining eight, including the one woman, were released on second review by a commissioner. During this period I signed one interim custody order.
The periods of detention of those I released are as follows:

- 16th October 1971 to 9th July 1974
- 22nd October 1971 to 9th July 1974
- 10th March 1973 to 9th July 1974
- 10th May 1973 to 9th July 1974
