§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisSo far my Department has received 25 submissions for transport supplementary grant. Decisions on the allocation of grant will be taken as part of the annual rate support grant settlement before the end of the year.
§ Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will increase the needs allowance in respect of rate and rent rebates so as to ensure that persons applying for such rebates after the increased pensions and social security benefits come into effect on 22nd July will not be disadvantaged.
§ Mr. FreesonAs my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced today, the needs allowances are to be increased from the beginning of October. Thereafter all pensioners. 387W and social security beneficiaries will have their incomes assessed on the same basis for the purposes of rate and rent rebates and rent allowances.
