HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c307W
16. Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will now make a statement on his future policy on electricity tariffs.

Mr. Varley

As I explained in the debate on 20th June, I am reviewing the policy for energy prices but it will be a little time before this review is completed.

28. Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will give permission for local electricity authorities to make special tariff agreements for churches and other places of worship.

Mr. Eadie

This is a matter for the individual area boards.

33. Sir D. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Energy under what authority electricity charges are being increased from May when the official date given is August.

Mr. Eadie

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in his Budget Statement that there would be price increases for domestic and other quarterly-billed consumers on bills reaching most of them from the beginning of August. Such bills will relate to consumption for the quarter beginning from the consumers, first meter reading on or after 1st May.
