§ Mr. Adam Hunterasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the security arrangements in that part of Rosyth Dockyard where nuclear submarines undergo refits in view of the 277W current information that thefts of metal have taken place; and if he will give an assurance that public safety is not at risk.
§ Mr. JuddYes. I am satisfied with security arrangements throughout the Rosyth Naval Base. However, they are currently being reviewed again following the discovery of metal thefts. There is no evidence as yet that any of the metal was removed from the nuclear refit- ting area. I am satisfied that public safety is not at risk because of the existing very strict controls on all materials which might present a health hazard.
§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied with the state of security at Rosyth Dockyard.
§ Mr. JuddYes. Security arrangements at the Rosyth Naval Base, as for all defence establishments, are kept constantly under review.
