§ Mr. Whiteheadasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has received the report of the Committee on Army Officer Training; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe Commit- tee has compiled no final report. Its present thinking is embodied in a draft which has been prepared as the basis for very widespread consultation and discussion within the Army, before it submits its recommendations to the Ministry of Defence. The Army will continue to recruit as officers both graduates and non-graduates. The purpose of the committee is to draw up a progressive, purposeful and balanced sequence of education, training and military duty which will offer attractive opportunities to all officer entrants and equip them for a full career.
