HC Deb 16 July 1974 vol 877 cc109-10W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether, in view of the fact that financial support from public funds in excess of £5 million for any single enterprise under the terms of Section 7 of the Industry Act is subject to the affirmative resolution procedure, he will make it his policy to take no steps to commit additional public funds in excess of £200,000 to Triumph Motorcycles without prior parliamentary debate and approval, in view of the fact that this concern has already received £4.8 million under the terms of this legislation.

Mr. Heffer

No. I do not regard the proposed Workers' Co-operative at Meriden as part of the same project as that for which assistance was given to Norton Villiers Triumph Limited.
