36. Mr. Stanley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she will introduce legislation to increase the obligations on pension funds to report their financial position to existing and prospective beneficiaries.

As I told the House during the debate on Pensions on 1st July—[Vol. 876, c. 120]—I have asked the Occupational Pensions Board to advise me on whether there should be statutory provision for the disclosure of information to members of occupational pension schemes and generally; and I have told the board that this question is particularly directed at financial information. When I receive the board's advice I will consider the matter further.
