§ Mr. Ifor Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the comparison between the total number of officers and staff in the employ of Welsh local authorities before and after the reorganisation of local government.
§ Mr. John MorrisI regret that this information is not at present available. Figures published by the Department of Employment for June 1973 show that 137,637 were then employed by local authorities in Wales. A comparable figure for the new local authorities will not be available until November this year. I understand, however, that most of the new local authorities in Wales have yet to reach their full staff complements.
