Members who actually attended the meeting, the purpose of which was to discuss the unemployment and associated problems arising from the closure of Irlam steelworks in the Newton constituency.

Members for Altrincham and Sale (Mr. Barber), Eccles (Mr. Carter-Jones), Leigh (Mr. Boardman), Farnworth (Mr. Roper), Fylde, North (Mr. Clegg), Runcorn (Mr. Carlisle), Salford, East (Mr. Allaun), Salford, West (Mr. Orme), Stretford (Mr. Churchill), Liverpool, Wavertree (Mr. Steen), and Wigan (Mr. Fitch).
