Mr. R. C. Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in view of the high level of applications for the next academic year, he will increase the Open University's grant in aid.
§ Mr. PrenticeYes. I propose to increase the grant-in-aid to the university to enable it to admit 20,000 students in 1975, instead of 14,000 originally contemplated, and a further 20,000 in 1976.
