HC Deb 10 July 1974 vol 876 c516W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what estimates he has concerning the change in percentage of dutiable imports from beneficiary countries entering the United Kingdom free of charge under the United Kingdom scheme of generalised preferences and that now adopted under the EEC scheme.

Mr. Deakins

The present EEC scheme is probably, on balance, of less value to beneficiary countries than was the United Kingdom scheme. It is not, however, possible to make a comparison in quantitative terms.
