HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 cc369-70W
Mr. Gorst

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of the 5¾4 per cent. rise in retail prices during the three months from 28th February was attributable to his budgetary measures; and if he will list the items in the Budget which contributed to those rises.

Mr. Dell,

Pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 5th July 1974], gave the following information:

On the first part of the Question, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection on 26th June.—[Vol. 875, c. 482.] On the second part, the items which make up the net effect on the RPI of ¾ per cent. are increases in indirect taxes and electricity tariffs, the rents freeze and food subsidies.
