HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 cc333-4W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement regarding the stocks of ware potatoes unsold in Northern Ireland as a result of the export ban.

Mr. Buchan

Details of a scheme for the purchase of a limited quantity of good quality potatoes remaining unsold on farms in Northern Ireland as a result of the export ban have already been announced. I know that the quantity notified to the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland exceeds the tonnage estimated to have been affected by the ban. The situation is currently under discussion between the Departments concerned and the Ulster Farmers' Union.
