No beds in Welsh hospitals are reserved for private fee-paying patients. Approval has been given for certain hospitals to admit a limited number of private patients to any of their ordinary beds. The number of beds so approved and the total numbers of beds in the area of each Welsh area health authority are as follows:

cology; 3. geriatrics and chronic sick; 4. obstetrics and GP maternity; 5. psychiatric, and 6. other.
