HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 cc393-4W
Mrs. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action she is taking under the Faculty of Homԓopathy Act 1950 to enable homoeopathy institutions to provide their own form of treatment and to maintain the continuity of those institutions, as laid down in the legislation.

Dr. Owen

The Faculty of Homoeopathy Act 1950 does not empower my right hon. Friend to do as my hon. Friend suggests. As I have already told my hon. Friend in reply to her Question on 11th April—[Vol. 872, c.283–4.]—my right hon. Friend accepts the continuing obligation acknowledged by successive Ministers under the National Health Service Act of 1946 to provide homoeopathy facilities as long as there are doctors willing to practise this form of treatment and there is a demand for it.
