HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 cc332-3W
46. Mr. Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate is available of the ratio of wholemeal or wheat germ bread consumed in relation to ordinary white bread.

Mr. Bishop

Estimated figures published by the Government Statistical Service of the Department of Industry show that in 1973 ordinary white loaves and wholemeal bread accounted for 82 per cent. and 1.6 per cent. respectively of total household consumption of bread. Figures for wheat germ bread are not available.
