HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 c334W
Mr. Knox

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the cost to the Exchequer of the National Agricultural Advisory Service during its last complete year of operation and the cost of the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service during its first complete year of operation.

Mr. Bishop

The cost of NAAS in its last year of operation, 1970–71, was £7.3 million and the cost of ADAS in its first year of operation, 1971–72, was £16.1 million. These figures, of course, are not comparable because ADAS includes a range of other professional and technical services which were not part of the NAAS.
