Mr. Mark Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Industry what plans he has for a further programme of advance factories.
§ Mr. HefferI am pleased to be able to announce a new programme of 19 advance factories. These will be planned as follows:
of work for the Government's industrial estates corporations than hitherto, and the Department will have more flexibility to respond to the needs of the assisted areas.
199WAs far as possible the factories in the new programmes will be located on land already in public ownership so that building can progress quickly. To reduce delays in future programmes a limited number of new sites are being acquired now in advance of need.
Expenditure on the first programme is expected to fall largely in the year ending 31st March 1976.
