HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 cc12-3W
47. Sir D. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what proposals he has for further reductions of tariffs on processed agricultural products from developing countries into the EEC.

Mr. Deakins

At the Council of Ministers' meeting on 25th June, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade pressed for improvements in the Scheme of Generalised Preferences on processed agricultural products to come into effect on 1st September, and this will be discussed again at the next meeting. The Department is also considering the Commission's proposals for the arrangements for 1975, which would come into effect on 1st January next. The Government will press for continuing improvements thereafter.
