Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the incident on 25th June when a Russian naval vessel sailed near to the Shell and Aramco Oil rigs in the Wash area.

Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make representations to the USSR authorities to protest against the harassment by a USSR trawler on Wednesday 26th June of North Sea rigs; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley

We have drawn the attention of the Soviet authorities to this incident and have sought assurances that similar incidents will not recur.
