§ Mr. Peter ThomasI have taken positive and wide-ranging steps to encourage more extensive use of the Welsh language. Many of these are described in successive editions of "Cymru: Wales", issued annually by my Department. Among the measures I have taken since the last edition was published has been the major step of setting up the Welsh Language Council to concern itself with the welfare of the Welsh language in all walks of life.
