§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the amount of Government funds available to Bedfordshire local authorities for housing and, separately, the amount of Government funds available for mortgages.
§ Mr. EyreBoth capital expenditure on housing and mortgage lending for house purchase are reckonable expenditures for loans to local authorities from the Public Works Loan Board. Bedfordshire authorities have this year been entitled to borrow from the board up to 40 per cent. of all reckonable expenditures. Local authorities in Bedfordshire as elsewhere are entitled to claim housing subsidies, under the Housing Finance Act 1972 and the relevant provisions of earlier Housing Acts.
