§ Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will order a public inquiry into the proposal of the Dorset Water Board to abstract water from the Winterbourne Valley.
§ Mr. RossiMy right hon. and learned Friend has decided to direct the Avon and Dorset River Authority to refer the licence application from the Dorset Water Board to him for determination. I understand that the water board also proposes to apply to him for a works order under the Water Act 1945. He will consider the need for a public local inquiry in the light of objections to both applications.
