HL Deb 23 January 1974 vol 348 c1568WA
LORD O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What types of information they do not pass on to the Commission of the E.E.C.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE (BARONESS TWEEDSMUIR OF BELHELVIE)

Her Majesty's Government supply the Commission with any information which, under the Community Treaties and related instruments, it is necessary and appropriate to supply. In general, it is for the Commission to ask Member States for the information it considers necessary for the performance of a particular task. It is in the interest of Member States that the Commission should receive all appropriate information which can reasonably be provided to enable it to carry out its work effectively. In making information available, Her Majesty's Government naturally take into account such considerations as those of national security, commercial security and the rights of the individual.

House adjourned at twelve minutes past nine o'clock.
