§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he remains satisfied that April 1975 is a realistic date for employers to have introduced an occupational pension scheme under the Social Security Act 1973.
§ Sir K. JosephYes. 6th April 1975 is the day on which the new contribution arrangements under the Social Security Act will come into force, and the necessary orders have now been made. Employers should be giving urgent attention to their responsibilities under the Act. Where they intend their employees' rights to an earnings-related pension to be built up in a recognised occupational scheme—and the Government hope that employers will choose this wherever possible—they should consult their pensions advisers straight away if they have not already done so.
