HC Deb 06 February 1974 vol 868 cc323-4W
64. Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will ensure that future projects of new town corporations for expansion beyond their existing boundaries are discussed at their inception with the county planning authorities affected so that such schemes may be considered in the context of the county structure plan.

Mr. Rippon

Early consultation with local planning authorities has been the usual practice and I have no wish to change this. A recent circular on the relationship between new town master plans and structure plans stressed the need for collaboration between local planning authorities and development corporations, but new town projects cannot always await the completion of structure plans.
