asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the incidence of (1) birth wastage (stillbirths and infant mortality under one year) per 1,000 births and (2) of perinatal mortality (stillbirths and infant mortality under one week) per 1,000 births in England and Wales for each of the years 1953 to 1972, inclusive.
