HC Deb 05 February 1974 vol 868 cc266-7W
Mr. Roger White

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is now able to name further rehabilitation demonstration centres.

Sir K. Joseph

Yes. Six more centres have been designated: Mary Marlborough Lodge, Oxford; the Odstock branch of Salisbury General Hospital, Salisbury; Pinderfields General Hospital, Wakefield; Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Bath; Westminster Hospital; and the service based on Withington, Wythenshawe and Buxton Hospitals, serving the Manchester region. As with the first two centres, announced in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Wells (Mr. Boscawen) on 14th June 1973—[Vol. 857, c.372–3]—these will demonstrate modern methods of clinical practice and organisation of services in rehabilitation for patients suffering from arthritis, rheumatism and stroke, and other conditions. I hope to announce further centres soon.
