§ Mr. Arthur Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he proposes to announce the membership of the joint committee to co-ordinate the redevelopment of the dockland area of East London which is to include representatives of the Greater London Council and the five London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Southwark, Greenwich and Lewisham; and if he has appointed a chairman.
§ Mr. RipponA joint committee has been set up by the GLC and local authorities concerned, under Section 102 of the Local Government Act 1972 to co-ordinate action in preparing an overall plan and to acquire land for the redevelopment of this area. The membership will include representatives from the GLC and London boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Southwark, Greenwich and Lewisham as well as four co-opted members invited at my suggestion. They are Lord Goodman, Mr. George Dobry, QC, Mr. C. A. Prendergast and Mr. Neil Thorne. The first meeting of the committee was held on 23rd January302W at which Sir Reginald Goodwin took the chair.
